In 8th grade, I had a math teacher who was considered a bit of a hard-ass. I liked her, but many people did not. She seemed to like me as well, despite my always being tired (insomnia and depression) and not focusing on the lessons (general teenage distractedness, drawing was far more fun than math). Anyhow, I often nodded off in math class, and one day the teacher decided she should make an example of me. I had my head down and woke up to “Erin, can you solve this?”
