I know about the emergency physical key that slides out of the top of the key fob. But those keys won’t start the car. No ignition switch to plug it into, right? I’ve since learned that most cars have a “secret handshake” that uses a chip reader hidden somewhere in the interior of the car. Every make and model is a little different, but if the process and location of the chip reader is known, the car can be started using a dead key fob.
