In third grade, there was a scheduling conflict because the fourth grade classes had their reading and language arts at the same time third grade had “related arts” and math, so they tried our daughter in a fourth grade math class and she seemed to do all right except that she appeared to be intimidated by that particular (male) teacher. Well, I personally found him a bit scary too! They presented us with two options—either leave her where she was and have her do her reading, etc. with a resource teacher, or let her go on to fourth grade, but with a different teacher.
